ONLINE Workshop: Writing with Personality and Panache

11am – 1pm

Join us for an online workshop with award winning spoken word poet and writer, Tahmina Ali.

Together, we’ll explore imaginative ways to write about yourself – perfect for applications, biographies, personal statements, and copywriting that needs a personal touch. You’ll discover how to infuse personality into your words while maintaining clarity and professionalism. Expect practical tips, playful prompts, and plenty of opportunities to share and get feedback in a supportive space.

By the end, you’ll walk away with fresh ideas, newfound confidence, and writing that reflects the person behind the page.

You can expect a dynamic hybrid workshop designed to help you craft writing that truly stands out. Whether you’re in the room or tuning in via Zoom, this interactive 2-hour session (with a break to recharge) will guide you through creative exercises to unlock your unique voice.

About Tahmina

Tahmina is a British-Bangladeshi, Geordie spoken word poet, producer, facilitator and creative practitioner. She has been awarded the ‘ABC Arts and Culture Award’ twice for her innovative and thought-provoking creations, and commitment to supporting the community through her work. Tahmina is the founder and host of poetry night, Freespill which has collaborated with Gem Art’s Masala Festival twice. Tahmina has been mentored by world renowned poets; Hollie McNish and Deanna Rodger. She has headlined poetry nights across the region and performed on large platforms such as the BBC and The Glasshouse.

Poetry has played a significant role in Tahmina’s life, it gave her the tools to navigate through extremely challenging times and became an anchor for her own mental well-being. Now through her workshops Tahmina aims to pass on those very tools to others and uses poetry as a means to encourage positive change. Tahmina’s writing is generally influenced by identity, culture, social events and life as a mother.

This event has been organised by The NewBridge Project (Newcastle) for the Kaleidoscope Network, a collaboration between Eastside Projects, Spike Island (Bristol), Primary (Nottingham) and Bloc Projects (Sheffield) and The NewBridge Project (Newcastle). EOP Members are automatically part of the Kaleidoscope Network and can attend selected events programmed by each partner for free.
