Accounting and Taxes for Freelancers and Creatives

1pm – 2pm

EOP members are invited to join Spike Island Associates and Stephanie Pettitt from Equation Accounting for an exclusive webinar designed for freelancers and creatives looking to take control of their finances. This session will help you navigate the financial side of your creative business with greater knowledge, understanding and motivation. Stephanie will share practical insights and tools, giving you a clearer understanding of how to set up, manage and understand your finances. The session will cover:

  • Aligning your financial goals with your creative vision – learn how to create purposeful financial goals that reflect your values and ambitions, helping you stay motivated and focused on what matters most.
  • Discover how to organise your business finances with online tools and software, so you can track expenses, manage income, save for and file your taxes and make informed financial decisions.
  • Sole Trader vs Limited Company – what's right for you? Are you confused about which business structure suits your needs? We'll break down the pros and cons to help you make the right choice.
  • Self-assessments for freelancers – gain a greater understanding of some of the fundamental elements of self-assessments for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in the creative industry.
  • Navigating tax deadlines – avoid last-minute stress by staying ahead of important tax deadlines, with tips to ensure you're prepared.

After Stephanie’s presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask general questions about the tools and advice provided. However, due to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering), attendees will not be allowed to share their personal details or specific situations during the session. For people in need of more specific financial advice, Stephanie is kindly able to offer free 10-minute consultations for attendees of the workshop. Details on how to book will be shared afterwards. The session will be streamed via Zoom and live captioning will be available. It will be recorded and available online for attendees until Monday 26 January 2026. Stephanie will also share a resource pack with key info and links.
