In this online session GLOAM - an artist-led gallery and studios in Sheffield - will share how they put a project together; from conceiving the idea, collaborating with artists, devising budgets and planning production to installation timelines and curating accompanying events.

They will talk through internal operations and how they utilise resources and time to turn ideas into realised projects. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions.

GLOAM is an artist-led gallery and studios in Sheffield that aims to deliver rich, accessible, and exciting programmes supporting emerging and mid-career artists. GLOAM allows artists to test ideas and explore new aspects of their practice and offers a safe, diverse, and inclusive space for both artists and communities as part of its ethos.

GLOAM is run as a co-operative by three co-directors: Stu Burke, Thomas Griffiths and Victoria Sharples. Stu Burke is an artist, curator and researcher currently studying for a PhD at Leeds Beckett University, researching ‘sites of play within the gallery and beyond’. Thomas Griffiths is an artist and curator, based between Sheffield and Manchester. They are currently studying for an MFA at Manchester School of Art. Victoria Sharples is an artist, curator and researcher. They are a lecturer in the School of Arts at the University of Derby and co-lead of the ‘New Materialist Reading Group’ (NMRG).

This event has been organised by Bloc Projects for the Kaleidoscope Network, a collaboration between Spike Island (Bristol), Primary (Nottingham), The NewBridge Project (Newcastle), Bloc Projects (Sheffield) and Eastside Projects (Birmingham). EOP Members are automatically part of the Kaleidoscope Network and can attend selected events programmed by each partner for free.
