Whether it be creating clear and convincing proposals or well thought-through and engaging applications, working out how to write about your work and ideas when applying for funding or opportunities is essential.

This practical workshop led by Eastside Projects' Artist Maker Ruth Claxton is aimed at artists and other creative practitioners and will be dedicated to improving skills when presenting ideas. As part of the session we will look at common mistakes and share top tips. There will also be time for peer-to-peer discussion and feedback so feel free to bring successful and unsuccessful applications and proposals for the group to unpack and collectively learn from.

This is a private event for current members of EOP and the Kaleidoscope Network only. It has been organised by Eastside Projects for the Kaleidsocope Network, a collaboration between Eastside Projects (Birmingham), Spike Island (Bristol), Primary (Nottingham), The NewBridge Project (Newcastle) and and Bloc Projects (Sheffield). Membership of any of the above organisations automatically makes you part of the Kaleidoscope Network.

About Ruth

Ruth is one of the founding directors of Eastside Projects. In her role as Artist Maker she spends a lot of time writing callouts for opportunities, looking through applications and proposals, and writing a wide array of funding bids, proposals and pitches for the organisation and with the artists we commission. She has also applied for lots of things as an artist, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, so has experience of being on both sides of the application process and a good understanding of the challenges involved in shoehorning artistic practice into bureaucratic criteria.
