Together in the Mud Sound Bath

9pm – 10pm

Join us just after dusk as atmosphere-maker, melissandre varin and sound bath practitioner Manoj Yoga create a unique, immersive, late night Digbeth First Friday experience. Sound baths allow us to to move into our heartspace through a collective experience which induces calmness, relaxation and peace, increases energy, vitality and creativity, and offers relief from stress, worry and anxiety. Manoj will bathe the terrain vague in sound using a range of instruments including an Earth Gong, which evokes feeling of grounding, safety and comfort through low and medium tones; a Symphonic Gong which unites harmonic sounds and offers "sound in it's entirety"; and a Synodic Moon Gong to support in times of the full moon period, for new beginnings, directions and moving towards our intentions. He will also use a series of crystal singing bowls which are tuned in 432hz - the natural frequency of the universe. Seven bowls will be played corresponding to C, D, E, F, G, A, and B which also relate to the second primary chakras, or energy centres in the body that affect our emotional and physical wellbeing. You are welcome to experience the sound bath in whatever way is most comfortable for you, on the soil, or elsewhere in the gallery, lying down, seated or standing. We will provide some yoga mats, but please bring your own if you have one. Once the Sound Bath has begun we will not be able to let people in, or out of the building until it is over. During this event melissandre will invite participants to explore how it feels to bring their body into direct contact with the soil. We are attempting to create a judgement free and sensitive space to commune with the more-than-human. We are open to how people respond to this invitation. There may be partial nudity. ABOUT MANOJ

Manoj is a yoga teacher, sound practitioner and ayurvedic therapist based in Birmingham. After growing up for most of his life surrounded by yoga, mantra and sound, Manoj felt compelled to carry on, share and dedicate his life to the spreading of the knowledge of his ancestors.

After multiple trips to India for training and immersion, he has brought sacred teachings back to the west to share with students, in a way that allows them to use this wisdom and apply it to their own lives in an empowering manner,

Over the last 7 years, he has shared classes, workshops, trainings and sound experiences across the country, with the ethos of his work based around inclusion and accessibility.

Yoga and sound has become his life, allowing him to continue to support those he comes into contact with to help them live to their full potential and aid transformation.

His sound baths are focused around crystal singing bowls and gongs to provide a space for relaxation, rest and surrender. Guests are held and supported by Manoj’s compassionate and supportive presence throughout the process.

He is passionate about bringing various modalities together to create unique and enriching experiences for all and this project adds to that.
