Honor Gavin is a writer and musician. Midland: A Novel Out of Time (Penned in the Margins, 2014), her first novel, explores the twentieth-century transformations of the city of Birmingham, UK, and which was shortlisted for the 2015 Gordon Burn Prize. She teaches creative and critical writing at the University of Sheffield and is presently a Visiting Fellow at LSE Cities, where she is working with Theatrum Mundi. Theatrum Mundi is a network of urbanists and artists in different cities. It provides a forum for cross-disciplinary discussion about cultural and public space in the city. The collective consists of academics, architects, planners, performing and visual artists, with the aim to stimulate debate around ways to revitalise urban culture. Honor Gavin was a Fellow of the ICI Berlin for Cultural Inquiry and completed her PhD within the multidisciplinary doctoral programme of the London Consortium at Birkbeck. Her current creative project, a crime fantasy about the comeback of a boyband that never existed, is titled Never Was.
