David Osbaldeston (b. 1968, Middlesbrough. Lives and works in Manchester) Osbaldeston presents his art as a fragmented illusion of itself in a world that appears open to endless reproduction and revision. A marriage of convoluted techniques and processes are often brought into play through the artists interest in time & memory; from the use of language in a photocopied document, design, fine print, collage, typography, artists' books, installation, and more recently black & white photography. He questions the codes and conventions that frame our understanding of the present in relation to the legacies held within it. David has recently been awarded a Guest Residency at the Rijksakademie which he will undertake within the Design Studio in 2010. He has also recently completed a cover commission for the culture magazine.
