Eastside Projects

Athanasios Argianas (Born 1976, Athens, Greece. Lives and works in London.) Athanasios Argianas’ sculptures explore the possibility and limitations of transferring sound into form. Proposals for Reading Consonants as Noise 2007 are 3-D versions of oscilloscope readings and many of his works employ systems based on a formal and conceptual circularity. It is this looping structure that provides the starting point for Song Machine 2009 a continually spinning structure made from interlocking variations on a single lyric. Recent solo exhibitions include ARCO, Madrid, 2008, Sing Sideways / Sing From The Middle To The Start/End, Galleria Alessandro de March, Milan and Cell Project Space (with Nick Laessing). Recent group shows include Heaven, the 2nd Athens Biennial, Deste Prize, Museum of Cycladic Art, Athens, 2009. He is represented by Max Wigram Gallery, London.
