Everyone is invited to join us for this one-day festival to celebrate the religious, historical, familial, societal, contextual and musical underpinnings of the Valmiki community in the UK. It’ll be a day of music, memory, making and meaning.

In Valmiki cuture 'Sangeet' refers to being together in song, most often in joyful congregative spaces. You can expect 'creation stations' responding to Valmiki teachings and scripture; multi-lingual archives and links to Punjabi culture; a pop-up exhibition of community artworks and artefacts; live performances, refreshments and more.

This event is programmed as part of Seema Mattu’s Incidental Artist commission and is being imagined by Seema as a space to share more about Birmingham's Valmiki community and the wider context for her project.
