Join artist Sym Stellium for a liturgy in the mud, a spiritual experience in which we will release energy and rediscover the joy of self autonomy. We are surrounded by visible and invisible structures which control what we do - when to move or sit still, when to stand up, when to dance, how to move through the world. These structures impact our behaviour, conditioning us to wait for ‘permission’ to do what we want, convincing us that we do not have free will and that our body is not our own. During this event Sym will lead us through a series of actions, meditations, chants and prompts which will reconnect us to the ground and ourselves. The workshop/ performance will help us individually and collectively acknowledge that we can do what we want, and recognise that coming to this understanding is a crucial step on our journey towards self liberation. Participants are invited to take part in the ritual but this is your own journey so should be taken at your own pace - you can release whatever you want, and be as vulnerable as feels comfortable.
