Aliyah Hasinah (b.1996, Reading, Berkshire. Lives and works in Birmingham) is a curator, writer, producer and aspiring historian/filmmaker. Recent projects include The Past Is Now exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Apples and Snakes Poetic Theatre Makers Programme, SBTV Custard Factory Pop up, TEDxBrum 2017. She part of the Art against the Grain collective and co-produces the Who Got the Juice? podcast Aliyah focuses her work on decolonial thought in practice and developing decolonial curatorial practice. She has worked with the V&A, Southbank Centre, Saqi Books, The Midlands Art Centre, Eventbrite, Birmingham Hippodrome, BMAG, BBC, Channel 4 Random Acts amongst others. Aliyah is currently Midlands Producer for Apples and Snakes.
Black in the Day was co-founded by poet, dancer and actress Tania Nwachukwu and graphic designer an videographer Jojo Sonubi. Launched in the summer of 2016, the submission-based image archive documents the mid-to late-20th Century experience of Black Britons, unearthing a deeper and broader story, which they share on Instagram and Twitter. They have held scanning events at venues including the Victoria & Albert Museum and Tate Britain.
