This is the second in a series of toolkits looking at how to make art in the public realm.

The first session, 'Working in Public', brought together three speakers to talk about their experiences of making art in public, sharing anecdotes about working on a wide variety of projects and in collaboration with a range of different parties.

For this second session we are joined by artists Simon and Tom Bloor, who have substantial experience of realising public art commissions, to discuss the practicalities and finer details of making proposals for working in this way.

Considering how to respond to a commission opportunity, we’ll discuss; How do you communicate an idea for something that doesn’t exist yet? How can you encourage someone to select your proposal when you haven’t worked on that scale before? Where do you go to get technical expertise? How do you allocate large budgets sensibly?

This is a surgery-style session, so bring questions with you to pose to Simon and Tom, along with proposals you’d like to hear feedback on.
